PrEP, or pre-exposure prophylaxis, is a prescription drug that reduces the risk of getting HIV. While the drug has been shown to reduce the risk of HIV from sex by more than 90 percent and from injection drug use by more than 70 percent, most DC residents still weren’t familiar with it. In fact, only about 100 people in DC were estimated to have used the drug in 2016. DC has the highest HIV rate in the country, which is why DC Health
asked Octane to help get the PrEP message out and make it stick in a 60-second television spot.
