The Business Development Associate role will assist in driving market research, developing business strategies, managing various projects and initiatives, and identifying new business opportunities. This position will work with multiple departments and report to the Director of Business Development.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Familiarizes themselves with the company’s vision and mission, seeking to accomplish set goals and objectives
  • Conducts regular market research to provide trends, insights, and data to identify potential clients
  • Collates and maintains client information in the CRM database
  • Assists with drafting business plans, sales pitches, presentations, reference material, and other documents as required
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and engages effectively with various levels of management, staff, and clients
  • Manages multiple projects concurrently and meets deadlines
  • Attends client meetings, takes minutes, and captures action items
  • Takes notes at planning meetings that the project lead can turn into an outline for a communication plan
  • Supports strategic decision-making by accurately documenting, filing, and reporting statistics to the executive team
  • Contributes ideas proactively to help identify new opportunities
  • Meets project deadlines consistently as set by a manager
  • Demonstrates the ability to problem-solve continuously and successfully
  • Works well with and demonstrates respect for colleagues at all levels and consistently contributes to a positive work environment
  • Enhances the company’s reputation and looks for new and creative ways to market our services
  • Works on other ad-hoc duties as assigned

 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Expertise in using MS Office software and Internet research tools
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines, juggle multiple projects and work independently in a fast-paced office
  • Resourceful, organized, and motivated to increase sales
  • Knowledge of current PR industry events
  • Flexible, adaptable, attention to detail, analytical, and critical thinker
  • Independent self-starter who successfully initiates and completes assignments in a hybrid work environment
  • Confident, proactive, and willing to take on workplace challenges

 

Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • A background in Sales or Marketing is strongly desired
  • Two to four years of full-time business development experience

 

Salary Information

$65,000 – $70,000 (commensurate with experience)

Location

Octane follows a Hybrid work model. Our team works collectively for two days in our Washington, DC, office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Each employee has the option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Employees may elect the days to come into the office in collaboration with their supervisor.
