Position Description
Octane is seeking a full-time Accountant to work directly with the COO. This role is an essential part of the organization’s Operations team.
The Accountant supports the COO in Finance Management, Contracts/Records Management, and other general office duties.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Finance Management
- Document financial transactions by entering account information into the accounting database (QuickBooks Online)
- Record assets, liability, and capital expense entries
- Process vendors’ invoices (Bill.com) and ensure timely payments
- Prepare customer invoices
- Maintain clients’ confidence and protect operations by keeping financial information confidential
- Reconcile the company’s bank statements and General Ledger in collaboration with the CPA consulting firm
- Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing financial information
- Prepare and submit bi-weekly payroll (ADP, Harvest, & BambooHR)
- Maintain multi-state tax information and payroll records
- Manage income and expenditure accounts
- Prepare the company’s financial reports – weekly accounting updates, monthly reconciliation reports, P&L, BS, Cash flow, etc.
- File and remit taxes and other financial obligations if needed
- Maintain financial security by following internal controls
- Comply with federal, state, local financial, and legal requirements
- Provide backup support in connection with accounting and taxes
- Create, manage, and track all contract documents
- Analyze the company’s financial data
- Prepare and lead financial reporting to the CEO, COO, and Directors
- Work with the COO to achieve Operations (accounting department) and company Performance Goals
Office Management
- Perform miscellaneous business and office administrative tasks as required.

Experience and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or equivalent work experience
- Accounting and payroll experience – 5 to 7 years
- Government contract accounting experience – 2 to 3 years
- Office management or general operations experience – 2 to 5 years
Compensation
$75,000 – $85,000 (commensurate with experience)
